Surge @ 1/4 Throttle 7 Years, 2 Months ago
Attached are previous post.
I am still in need of assistance. Sorry this is so long as it is a cut & paste over a time period....

I changed the air box to K&N and completed the stage three on pipes.. I have had issues with getting the jetting correct. I now am at 200 main...I think that is large. It run great with 1/2 to wide open throttle.. Little surge at 1/4 throttle. Pipes are not black. Plugs look good. Put in maxair PMS screw, That helped some. Also changed out pilot jet to a larger one. Sorry I have forgotten what size... It was recommended on the board..
I have the same bike as you do.

Sand, I'd say your main is too rich. I started with a DJ 190. I also upped the pilot to a 37.5DJ. I ended up dropping the main to a Mikuni 175 which would be equivalent to a DJ186.7 if there were such a thing. I don't know why Dynojet doesn't include a DJ185 in their 04 kit. I'm running an aftermarket breather with maxmix screw, open pipes with torque cones. I'd think you'd need to be a little leaner with the drilled stockers. I was having same symptoms you describe when I was too rich.

My newest update
I pulled the tank tonight...The kit I have from DynoJet did not come with a 186.7
So I went with the 190...Still may be to big...
I checked the clip..On the 4th slot from the top...
I have not ridden yet as I just got her back together....
Cranked good but it always has...
My kit does have a 185.. Might have to try that if I still have the surge...
Thanks for your help with this....

Rode 200 miles...Runs good but still have surge at about 1/4 throttle.
