I was reading about EFI and carb being heat on rear head. It does happen when the hot temputer of the weather get hotter. But for thw winter time its help keep the motor cooler. Its pretty normally But like you said the EFI runs leaner .
No your wrong.. If the EFI run leaner and the piston will burn two time hotter and will damgaed the piston rings. carbs MUST increases little richer just alittle bit Plus have to make a 2% plays between 0 to between 4 to 5. so the center of 2% of rich and lean to play while go up muntian or down to sea levels...
For the EFI have to play the right amounts of fuel and air mixters while go up hill or down dea level due to emission issuse. Thats why they map down on bike if they change aftermarket pipes.. I have learned throu the honetly guy that he buld bikes and rebuild motors. he does all ground up bikes. I learned alot and I was so lucky have carb instead of EFI.
its good to learn more to understand about motor issuse in alot of good ways. You all know what I am saying but if you don't understand. Let me know alright. Hope you all have awesome day ! Bill

I was up at Rolling Thunder over memorial day weekend. While we were staging, we were stopped a lot of the time. The ambient temp was hotter than normal for this time of year, and the header pipe coming off my rear jug was about to cook my thigh. The engine was very hot. I even noticed the engine started to ping (spark knock). It has never done that before, but I account it to the heat and the junk fuel that has been the norm lately. Since being back home, I have not had the ping. BTW, mine is an 08 FI.

Mine's not bad......... BB

My 2008 has the rear cylinder cut off, but unlike the 09 mine you have to activate each time. I have heat shields for me so its not bad.. but when stopped the wifes right foot gets cooked.

nice feature on the HD

the 09 is the same as the 08 The EITMS is nice...an engine temp sensor shuts down the rear injector once the engine cyl temp reaches greater than 287 deg F only when idling after 6 sec..not moving...the rear cyl is puffing air...

it is driver activated by rolling the throttle forward...you do this once...before you take of...
the rear cyl may never shut down but if all conditions are met she does...

the R* FI models could be designed do something like this too
