Exhaust gakets 7 Years, 2 Months ago
|
|
|
G'day,
Well, my office informatics guys have finally blocked all delphi forums so I'll be spending a lot more time on this place.
UPS just delivered my new HK Xccelerators and I will be installing them this weekend. Can anyone tell me what gaskets I will need? Should I just call my local dealer or is there a better alternative?
Thanks,
R

Hi Rocky,
I'm banned from the delphi forums here at work too. So, I'm here every day at lunch time. This is a great place for info too. As for the gaskets, you can pick up some Felpro #23561 at your local NAPA store. They'll need to be turned down a bit on the O.D. but that only takes a minute or two on the bench grinder.
Good luck.
Tom

Rocky,
Aceman's tip is a good one. I'm really glad we have it here on the clinic now.
Sorry to here about the Delphi block, but have heard it before from others.
Personally I have never had to replace the stock gaskets though. I have heard of folks having some trouble with them, but I never have. The stockers are a brass/copper type gasket that I have used over and over again without problems.
Just FYI...

Dang!! I've replaced mine a couple times, didn't want to re-install Roadhouse pipes three or more times for a leak. The gaskets looked good and re-useable too.

I had trouble with originals leaking when I installed aftermarket pipes. I tried another set of OEM gaskets and had same problem. I took the originals to auto parts store and found some for a toyota or nissan that were twice as thick and fibre aluminum. Had to use bench grinder to get them down to correct OD. I think both of them cost around $5 dollars.

I think you will find that the felpro 23588 will fit with no modifications what so ever and they are available at most auto part stores.

Good luck on finding the Felpro in town; I tried to find them last year
But if you come across a local source I'd be interested.
