What the heck happened ?? 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Whaasup dudes . . .

So this is what happened : My friend gave me this 12v universal Horn (which sounds great by the way) so I installed it on my Roadie and everything was great , but I figured that it was still not "loud enough" so I connected the original Horn with this new one , add both of them together and yes sir . . . now that is a loud horn

So I went out for a ride to "test drive" my horn and boy can they hear me . . . so long story short I came back and called it quits for the night , so this morning I went out and hit that horn a couple of times and to my surprise I looked at my speedo and nothing was showing !! it was blank !!

So I pulled over and checked my fuse box and the signal fuse was blowned , it is a 10A fuse , and I put a 15A just in case , looked at my speedo and everything was back to normal , but a couple of miles I looked down and the speedo was off again !!

Now everything was working , yes "was" working , lights , startup , the works , so I get home and start checking each of the fuses only to find out that one of the fuses has lost a "leg" (don't really know what is the proper term ) so I pulled the body of the fuse and with some pliers I pulled the leg out , and I figured this must be the probelm . . . boy was I wrong , now my bike won't start , won't turn on the lights , won't do shieeet !!

I checked my battery to see if it was dead , and nope it is still good , I pulled out and re-connected the cables beneath the speedo chrome base (hope you know what I mean , I think it's called instrument cluster , but I am not sure)

So in conclusion , and after this marathonic post , I do not know what to do or what to check , but my Salma is dead !! it's like she doesn't have a battery , what the heck can I do or check ??

Thanks for your attention and sorry for the looong thread

Thank you guys !!

I don't want to send you on the wrong track Locotripper, but under the L/H sidecover there's a couple of main fuses. Have you checked these?

I'm only flying on memory here mate, don't have the bike nor the manual with me.

my bike had very similar problems pull off the rear fender and check the signal wires, especially if you recall bottoming out recently

Hope she's all good now mate. I'd try to work out why that fuse popped though, maybe just touched (shorted) a wire somewhere but make sure the circuit isn't being overloaded.

Loco
you might need to put a relay on that horn might draw to much power without it. As far as tracing wires start with the horn and one wire go all the way back and start over with each wire.
Do a search on the relay.

Upping the fuse from 10amps to 15amps is a no no. The 10amp fuse was there to protect a circuit that was designed to provide up to 10 amps. By using a bigger fuse you run the risk of melting the wires in that circuit because now they are not protected from more current than they are meant to carry. If the new horn setup is drawing too much, you could increase the size of the wire that feeds them. Honk On.
