I had a 05 I can tell ya why people are asking as much for the vstar 650's in my opinion, for one they look a hellava lot better than the suzuki volusia's and they hold up better and also have more chrome. They are a good little bike for quick hops around town and for a beginner. I loved the way mine handled, it just didn't have enough top end for a good road trip.
