Maybe I should look at this one more time...even if I don't want to keep it, I may be able to spiff it up a bit and sell it...

I had a 05 I can tell ya why people are asking as much for the vstar 650's in my opinion, for one they look a hellava lot better than the suzuki volusia's and they hold up better and also have more chrome.

glad to hear that it's reliable..but it's a Yamaha so I guess that's a given..

I think you folks have talked me into it...I'm gonna check it out one more time.........

I had an '01 650 V-Star Custom... sold it 2 years ago, and with low mileage... I forget how many, but under 10k. I asked and got $2,500 then.

Looks like a fair deal then. thanks Questcap....of course if you have a stock tip that I could pay for it with, that would help a lot..............

NADA 650 V-Star

NADA says $2970 - $3700

I think you should give him more $$ just to be fair...

Since I have all kinds of time to shop, I found a 2000 Vstar 650 Classic for my daughter in law for her first bike. She has sat on one at the shops at it fits her very well.

We live in So Cal and the first one I found was near the beach and when we looked at it we found rust everywhere, with 24K it was a 03 and he wanted $2800, we passed on it. The next one we found was in Bakersfield and it was clean as a whistle even under the bike, not dirt no grease, showroom clean. It's a 2000 classic two tone paint Red/Maroon in mint condition and he was right, it was mint. Still, all stock bike with only a shield and only 12K on the odo. I was told to check the shaft and make sure it did not move more than a centimeter as the splines get worn inside the drive. Most owners that do their own service know that when they change the rear tire it is time to grease the splines inside the hub, his rear tire changed to Metz880 2 months ago. I asked the seller and he states, "oh of course and I only use Amsoil throughout the bike." I'm sold on this one and I check pipes, kickstand, grip ends and mirror edges for tip overs or falls. All clean and pristine. He lets us run it and ride down his dead end street, runs strong and good through all the gears.
He wants $2500, we settle $2350 a minute later. I feel she good a very good deal with this one.

When I got my R I traded in my 650 v Star It was an 09 silverado with 975 mi on it. I Was lucky to get $5700.00. I didn't want the hassle of selling it myself. I understand that this was trade in value and it was in January, But these kind of deals are out there. Even if you have to wait till off season. I felt that I made up for the low trade in price from the low off season price I paid for my R. No Regrets!!!

Don't get me wrong If your looking for a $2500 bike and you find a clean Vstar that is prob the best bang for your buck. But if your looking for a vstar and your not on a limited budget you should be able to find something newer for not much more.

That's the rub, limited budget..I pretty much spent my allowance on the shed I am building. My wife and I had a talk about it last night, We live on a fixed income and my son who is 22, Is loosing his job, which means he'll probably be back with us for a while, so it looks like I'm gonna have to let it slide.
