If I have to ask, I will never know? give me a brake..
I wasn't going to reply to this thread till this line caught my eye.
Buck I've been called a biker my whole life.
I've rode in 1% clubs and and as a loner, now I'm in what I call a 1/2% club. We ain't as bad as 1%'ers or as good as AMA clubs.
Guess what? If you asked me what a biker is I would tell you I don't have a clue.
Like Popeye said "I am what I am, and that's all that I am".
Wearing certain clothes or having tats and a pierced ear doesn't make you a biker.
The only real requirement that I can think of is riding a motorcycle, other then that you are either born a biker or a motorcycle enthusiast and at the end of the day, all that matters is that you enjoyed your ride.

My wife keeps telling me that no matter what I wear, I will never look like a biker! Funny thing is.. I'm not trying to look like a biker! I wear a leather vest cause the organiztion I belong too (B.A.C.A.) reguires it.. and no.. it's not an MC.. just a group of people helping abused kids, that also ride bikes..
I wear a doo-rag under my helmet for helmet itch! I wear over the ankle boots for safety!... I wear a leather coat in the winter cause it's warm! Call me what you will... makes no difference at the end of the day!!!

Amen to that Hotelfox! Glad you're still around to even consider it. Don;t rush it, and when the timing is right, hyou'll throw a leg over your ride, hit the starter and feel the rumble, and settle into that saddle, grip the clutch-lever, tentatively toe it into first geear, and roll out of the garage....you'll feel it again...someday!

Thank God for miracles and second chance!

I'm of the school of I ride for no reason and every reason. I don't need to be with a group, or I can be with the group. I have rode most of my life and have a mixed bag of experienced. I have seen some of the toughest guys fall to their knees and brake to pieces. I have seen fights with bats knifes and guns no comment on any of that. The measure of life that counts is Faith Family country respect!

It all comes down to this ride and let them call you whatever they want!

Seems to me that most folks have a mental image in their brain of a 1%'r when they hear the term biker. There are aspects of that life that I find admirable, but others I don't. So I don't claim it for myself.

I try not to burn much processor time in my brain about it. I figure I just ride a motorcycle and let it go at that.

Maybe it's just me but I consider myself a biker and to a degree stereotypical, tatooed, earings. I am not a 1%er, hung out with em, and alot are pretty cool i just don't get involved with the other stuff. I don't beleave biker is a bad term or a negative one. You either feel like your one or you don't. A lot of the definitions I have read all seem to me to be the same thing. We all ride, we're all bikers even the guys on the suicycles. unless you have the thing as a lawn or garage ornament. I could be wrong but that is my opinion.

I ride in Florida and wear shirts with sword fish and palm trees on them a pair of jeans and tennis shoes. Never where head bands or leather nor shorts (to easy to burn your self on pipes etc.) My opinion of a "BIKER" is some one who rides A LOT works on their bike, and doesn't just keep it shiny and parked in the garage and goes to a few rallys to show it off (I CALL THEM WEEKEND WARRIORS}. Some one who doesn't whine because we're going for a 200 mile ride and it might rain or get to hot out etc. Like the saying goes LIVE TO RIDE RIDE TO LIVE!!! We have Bike night every night of the week here in the Tampa area and within a 75 mile radious you can find at least 4 to 5 different ones. On a Wednsday I can hit 4 within 15 miles of where i live and they are basically all the same a bunch of weekend warriors just showing off their bikes. Just ride have fun and forget about it.

There are as many different definetions of a biker as there differrent bikes. I'm from the south and we can ride all year round as soon as I think I see someone who defines biker I see someone else shatter that definetion or reinvent it. It's like porn I can't define it but I know it when I see it.
