Saddle Bag Bracket Options 5 Years, 2 Months ago
Currently putting some Bub Stubbies on my R* and have concluded that I do not like the OEM saddlebag bracket. I would like to get rid of it for a cleaner look, but I also want to keep my Silverado bags. What are my options?

Funny thing is, when I bought the bike, I wanted as much crap as I could get on it. However, after owning it for a year, I find myself wanting to strip it down and get it as clean as I can. Is this minimalist approach normal?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

It is for me. ... but I do miss the bags on occasion so I have another fender which has the OEM setup.

What about something like Ghost Brackets?

This is probably the cleanest, easiest, and most secure set-up I have found.
Thinking about getting a set myself. Just thought I'd pass it on.

I too am interested in bracket options for my '06 R* Midnight. I'm in the opposite situation of the OP. I bought my R* wanting nothing on it. However, I immediately missed not having SOMETHING to carry a couple things. By chance I stumbled across a guy with factory Silverado Midnight bags (a couple years old, but I like the look of them; leather with studs to match midnight scheme rather than the hard, glossy bags that come on them now)who wanted an upgrade. So I grabbed the bags for cheap, but have no idea on how to mount them to my bike.

I'd love to hear any ideas or suggestions.

Unless you use the stock brackets you have to fabricate something yourself or use the Ghost/Easy bracket route.

Hey trex

If you want the bags on all the time see if you can work out a deal with Dutchman for his stock mounts. If you don't want them on all the time get Easy brackets.

Dutchman,

I tried the link you posted, but it only takes me to the "Prospero Technologies" home page.

TJ-

Sorry about that. It worked when I previewed. Not sure what went wrong.

Anyway, there is a post on the R* Forum that has a used set of saddle bag brackets for $100. I cannot find it and the search function does not seem to work (I got zero hits for"saddle bag&quot.
