Saddle Bags Rip off Alert 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I purchased a set of Rakaposhi saddlebags from a guy who goes by hummershears on ebay. The item purchased was specifically for a Roadie.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_rdc=1&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm38.l1313%26_nkw%3D220433071175%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&item=220433071175&viewitem=

Well the mounts were great but the left bag was drilled so it hung about 1/2" to low, it hit on my belt guard and the bolt that secures the belt guard.
I took pictures of it and sent them to him, at first he said to send the bags to him and I thought great! So I sent a request for what address to send the bags to... no answer, the same thing with a 2nd and a 3rd request.

I am going to modify the mounting and fabricate some metal to support these bags and re drill them so they sit high enough not to hit stuff when I go over a bump.

I really did not want to do all that work, that was why I bought these for $300 thinking it would be a bolt and go deal.
Well live & learn...
Hope this keeps someone else from getting robbed...

I have been thru thee (3) sets of these bags (1st saved my leg when I went down and the 2nd popped off from a broken EZ Bracket - lock failed and took a highway hit from an SUV). I also had a similar problem with the left bag ... but nothing more than a few washers for spacers worked it out. I know that clunking noise scared me, too. But the bag themselves are nicer that most others at 3X their price and are made pretty solid. Don't let a little thing like some spacers ruin your opinion. I think you'll learn to love'em as I do once you get them mounted. You might want to give yourself a little extra room for when you load them up. They are pretty big and can hold a ton of stuff at 21"X12"X7".

Good Luck.

The bags may be ok but if you can't get satisfaction from the seller when there is an issue then I don't need his product.

Re:Saddle Bags Rip off Alert 1 Year, 6 Months ago
I ordered saddlebags from Hummershears in June of 2010 for my Harley Fat Boy. Returned them in July, later than the vendor's advertised return period but with his permission and his assurances I would receive a refund. After the return I was then given all sorts of excuses for the credit not having been given me until the period in which to file a complaint on Ebay expired. Then Hummershears stopped responding to my emails. I received a credit back this month, only because the credit card company, American Express, got on the case. The saddlebags were returned because, according to the Harley dealership, they did not fit the bike. Beware.

I certainly can understand your frustration in getting your money returned, would bug me as well if it took that long. But, other than the HD dealer telling ya they would not work, did you try, or was it the dealer that was going to do the install? Most dealers, if something not purchased from them, give a line of hokey so to buy their product line, or they just want something plug and play, then charge ya an arm and a leg, since they don't know squat to fab and improvise. Just take a look on here and how many Roadies have HD fairings (I do) have HD bags, Royal star bags and other after market accessories not made specifically for our Roadies, I can go on and on on different products can be made to fit without a lot of time, trouble and issues
