According to the Dyna sheets on the "speed star" pages, 1600's were rated at 52hp 88tq and the 1700 at 63hp 94tq

The 1600 stocked out that low? I just had my Dyno'ed and hit 58 HP and 91 FT-lbs for a 1999.

I had mine dynoed last year. It's an '05, 1700, completely stock. Came out to 62 HP, 92 Ft. LBS of torque. The torque curve stayed above 80 from 1,800 RPM to 4,100 RPM. The HP curve is a nice 45 degree up slope from approx. 1,000 RPM to 4,200 RPM.

I looked for a long time and found the 04 advertising 67hp and the harley 88b was 68hp but the torque was much higher for the Roadie

Agreeing with the other comments in this thread. Torque falls as HP increases. They converge on Dyno charts at about (if I remember correctly) 5250 rpm. Most Road Stars can't rev that high, and Harleys can rev into the 6,000 rpm range. So the Harley's are going to show higher horsepower because they can get up into the right rpm range and work it out. Not because their engines are more powerful. HP is not real meaningful on Road Stars except in comparison to other Road Stars.

This is one of the reasons I really like the Road Star. It is a stump puller. My power band is is the range where I like to drive it.

I got very lucky and bought my roadstar from someone that had way to much money. He stated that it had the STAGE III everything installed at the time he had the recall repaired. I went to the local Harley shop on free dyno Saturday shortley after I brought it home. After a little tweaking it posted 97 Hp and 114 Tq. From the numbers posted I beleive everthing I was told was done to my bike. Lets just say that all of my friends that I ride with always kindof laughed at me riding my ROADSTAR because I just ride at my own pace. I don't get in a big hurry to race from place to place. After that day on the dyno and having to show the print out to everyone else that wasn't there. No one has asked me to race them anymore. I love my Roadstar and never plan on letting it go.
