I taped a small ziplock freezer bag to the underside of my seat which contains a copy of my registration, drivers license, insurance card, AAA card and a local motorcycle towing service. I have a Yami windshield bag with a copy of the same info. I ride frequently without the windshield attached when just doing local rides to and from work.

I love my Yamaha studded windshield bag, but I hate the way it mounts. The way the mounting system is, the bag's sticking way up & is visible from the outside of the windshield. I ended up drilling 2 holes inside the bag & mounted it to the 2 center windshield bolts. It's nicely tucked between the handlebars & windshield & looks aesthetically correct now.

Just a business card holder for the registration, ins, card and misc. info slid under the tool strap under the seat works for me. Nice and secure and dry, too. I also carry spare house keys there. (Been locked out a few times while working/cleaning the bike.) The tank bra pocket usually holds coins for parking meters, gum and an allen wrench to R&R the Memphis Shades windshield.

I also took an old camera case and screwed it to the back of the sissy bar pad. It holds a few cigars, cutter and lighter very nicely.

I stock an assortment of windshield and tool bags. Most of the windshield bags you see on line have a center hole bolt that does not line up with the Star windshield. I would recommend a tool bag or fork bag. Don't go too cheap. The Foxcreek is good, the Willie and Max not so good. Most of the bags now are made from PVC and don't like the rain. 30 to 40 is about an average price that you should pay for a decent bag. Keep an eye out at any bike shows or swap meets.

I also gotta tell you that I once dropped my m/c key on a busy Bay Ridge Brooklyn street on my way to the dry cleaners. I only went 3/4 of a block on foot and scanned the area for several minutes to no avail. Having learned for getting locked out of the house and the cage in years past, good thing I always carry a spare key velcro'd somewhere on the bike.
Well, about two weeks later, a couple of us met up there for a quick ride and we were just hanging out waiting for the last one to show up. As we were BSing, I leaned on a sign pole and felt something. There was my m/c key wire tied to the pole! Unbelievable! It's things like that that restore your faith in your fellow man.
