I ride sometimes with Shure isolating earplugs (isolate better than most foam plugs) and pipes hifi audio right to the ear. They totally rock!

When I still owned an R1 it was 100% of the time my rides had mp3 using this setup. I have only done it once or twice in 2000 miles on the roadie. Long trips I have no issues with it. Wind noise, etc, basically makes hearing a useless sense on the bike for me, at least at freeway speeds.

I find it interesting that one earphone is ok...same in Maryland.
