Me and the wife was driving down a busy street, Lloyd Expressway for the guys that know Evansville, IN. We came up to a cross street, Van Ave. I think, and there is a dude was sitting there on a Harley. Light was green for him to go, but he's just sitting there. The two vehicles sitting behind him went around him when the traffic cleared, so I'm thinking he's broke down. I pulled up behind him turned on the four ways, and he starts waving me to go around him. So I pulled up beside him and ask if he's OK, now this is the kicker. He said yeah I'm OK, I'm just waiting on some friends they are behind me a little way down the road. This is a six lane EXPRESSWAY, you run the speed limit and you get your a** run over, and he's sitting in the middle lane like there is no one else in the world on the road. Where do some of these people come from? And how do they live this long? He was by no means a youg guy either.

I live near Sturgis and during the bike rally, we see examples of astounding stupidity on an hourly basis. The ones I get a kick out of are are those that pull off maybe a third of the way on an on-ramp that dumps into the interstate, with cars and trucks whizzing around them. They read maps, take a swig of whatever they're drinking or just stop for friends to catch up. On on ramp is NO place to do those things! Oh well, that's how God thins the herd I suppose!

I know that idjits like that ride all brands... but, I had a H-D rider being just as stupid at the first of this week.
I had left for work on the bike Monday morning. As I neared the second side street from my house a guy on a Softail comes rolling up to his stop sign at about 20mph and doesn't even slow. He pulls right into my path going in the same direction that I was. (This is the same place the young guy in the car did the same thing) It was just close enough that I had to brake but not close enough to be in panic mode. I was behind him all the way through the subdivision and came to realize he was a "cool" rider. Right hand on the throttle, left hand in his lap and feet on the highway bar pegs. This is 30mph through a subdivision with a stop sign every so often. When we get to the main thoroughfare I'm right behind him when we pull out. We are in the right lane and I signal and move to the left lane for my turn at the next light. No sooner do I get in my lane and start accellerating than he pulls over in front of me and, of course, no signal.
We were probably both lucky. I've been working on just shrugging off idiots instead of my usual way of dealing with them. And it helped that it was early and I was in a mellow mood. But I do need to put a Stebel on my bike. At least I can rattle them a bit.
