Matt:

We're about the same height. 15" bars put them right about shoulder height. Mine have a small secondary bend, but I don't think they would have been that much higher.

Click on the Flickr photo link for some close-ups.

And, Welcome to the site.

Hey Matt!
First of all check your state law about handlebar height.
Then you can go for there and know if your gonna be legal or not.

I'm 5'7" and went with 14" Apes in the stock risers on my 06' which puts the grips at shoulder level when I sit with good posture. NY State law says shoulder height for M/C bars...

Don't forget that you can increase the height of your apes with risers. I'm 6'3" and only have 12 1/4" apes on 4" risers and am looking to go to 16" X 1 1/4" apes next season. But I'll have to change out my cables and brake line again. And have to look into extending the wiring harness.

Taller bars aren't the end of the story. Check out the tech section to do the dog bone flip to lower the back end and look into an after market seat to lower you even more.

Go for comfort and handling over looks and you won't be disappointed. Unless it's a show bike you want.

Definitly check with state laws the AMA web site can tell you all that from handle bar height to turn signals. I don't know if you have priced them, while the bars are not too expensive the cables and brake lines will likely cost almost double the bars. I got mine at barons and although pricey I love more than I did my Drag bars.
