Super tech oil filter 2 Years, 6 Months ago
I have not switched to Amsoil yet, I still use dino oil.. been paying $16 for a mobile one filter... the website said the Supertech filter from Wallyworld was a good filter... Honkin thing costs less than 3 bucks... however it seems to be a little longe than the other filters.. if used do I need to add more oil?

I went to WalMArt to get the ST7317, price was $2.84. While I was looking I saw that it crosses to a Fram PH7317, since I've used Fram for the past 30 some years when I started changing my own, that's what I went with. It was $4.99 if I remember correctly. Advance didn't get my Royal Purple Friday like they were supposed to so the date is this Friday now. They did have a ST specifically for the RoadStar just a little shorter...

While you are getting your filter, Wally World has 15-50 mobile one for 22 bucks for a 5 qt bottle!

I mean no offense, but you may want to reconsider the Fram... read it anywhere, they've so cheapened their product that the rep of their filters has gone right into the toilet. The ST filters are a high quality piece.

There, I said it. Now, don't be angry with me.

After extensive research, I've found the Purolator PureONE to be the absolute best oil filter for my Road Star. Check out this article:
http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Filters.html#buy
They are available at Advance Auto Parts for about $6 (best I remember). The only thing I hate about them is the ugly gold color!
The SuperTech is also an excellent (& lower-priced) choice & is much, much better than the O.E.M. or J.C. Whitney specials. Bosch produces a very high-quality filter as well. I love my R* more than $4 in my wallet, so the PureONE is my obvious choice with Shell Rotella synthetic 5w-40 oil.

And Questcap is right, Fram has become the absolute worst oil filters on the market. Their endcaps that hold the filtering element in place inside the case are made of CARDBOARD! Yes you heard me, CARDBOARD! How's that for quality.

BBB - Might want to check this out from Purolator's site first... click

-=Mike
If you're thinking you want to install a PureONE oil filter on your bike, please think again. PureONE oil filters are designed for vehicles, not bikes. Because of PureONE's high efficiency, the motorcycle oil pump may not be able to handle the pressure. The Purolator motorcycle filter line is designed to meet the specific needs of a bike; therefore we highly recommend the use of a Purolator ML filter over a PureONE oil filter.
