I'd like them to leave things alone.

One way to insure success is to improve what you already have not change it completely. It's kind of hard to instill loyalty if the product keeps changing dramatically.

Why would vendors make innovative parts for our bikes if they suspect that they'll only be around for a few years.

Ten year from now I'd like to be able to walk into a shop and not find out my parts are no longer available.

The problem is that Bean counters and R&D peole that never rode a bike get to make the calls on what an "improvment" is.

noticed the same thingon the dvd (it's an hour?? I turned it off after 10min.) My dealer told me the liner sales are in the toliet and Yama mama is trying really hard to get sales up. He even tried giving $1500 cash back to move three of the liners he had. In one month he sold 4 R* full price and 0 Liners.
HMMM... "LINER" SALES ARE IN THE TOILET!? .... uhhhh... well,?...
I would have bought a Roadliner... BUT! The Roadie was just to beautiful looking to pass up! The Roadie has a hundred times the syling and class that a LINER does. The Liner's got no PIZZAZ!
Yeah, I'd love to have a 1900cc engine, (but do I need anything more than the more than ample 1700? ...No!)

My guess is that YamaMama gives the RoadStaar line the boot, the Roadie sales have paid off YamaMama's "research&development" bill.
Now they'll probably dump the RoadStar line and buyer's will be forced into buying LINERs, this way YamaMama can get paying back on the Roadliner's R&D cost.

Marketing Professionals often make STUPID mistakes!
(Take a look at Ford's decisions to drop the 7.3L and come up with a new unreliable throw-away diesel in their pickups.) ...It's cheaper to manufacture!
...and NOW an even junkier 6.4L coming out.

You got it Musky.
An Unnamed person I know works for GM Canada. Some of the tales I hear about Bean Counters and R&D People would make your top spin.
...Don't forget, "R&D People" can't get everything perfect and then leave it alone. (They'd be out of a job soon!)
10% of a single penny/ per vehicle warrants an "improvement" when doing model-year changeups in production!
