I looked at buying a 8-ball at one time. the bike was a little pricey but it did look good. I just like the roadies better. Got some cool stock wheels don,t they

Very hard to beat the overall price & looks of the R* I think nothing out there comes close for the price, especially if you get a leftover model. They are blowing them out here.

Yeh, a couple of you guys got it right exactly... it's the jugs! They look all wrong. They're square, and well, just plain odd. Go R*s...

My riding buddy & I went to a "local" (90 miles away) Yamaha/Victory dealer & both of us rode an 8 ball & the "Star Trek looking" one. I really liked them. The Vision looks kinda strage but rides/drives like a dream. The 8 ball is nice too, but it's always nice to get back on my *.

The Vision is nice, but I have heard of plastic bits falling off....

Was talking to the Victory dealer in Prince George BC who said that in the 6 years of being a dealer they have had very few warranty services on the bikes and nothing on the major end such as motor, trans and such. Really liked the looks of the bikes myself...except for Arlen Ness touring bike. Looks like something that should be on Star Trek

That's because they weren't around for the first couple of years when Victory had major transmission recalls on their V92C models. Once they sorted that issue out though, they've proven to be pretty solid scoots.

I have to agree with other's though that I'm not real fond of the looks. Maybe I'm just old fashioned or a little nostalgic, but to me a bike just doesn't look right without a softail or rigid frame. Both cruisers I've owned (Vulcan 800 and the R* ) have had the softail frame, and anything else just doesn't have that classic "cruiser" look to me. Pretty much why I'm not all that impressed with the looks of the new Liner series as that boxy swingarm just doesn't do it for me. And those funky angular fender struts on the Raider make me want to hurl every time I see one.

Then again, I flat-out refuse to ever own a shaft-driven bike just because of how fugly and out of place the final drive looks, not to mention the big gaping hole that it usually leaves between the frame and swingarm (look at the left side of a 1500/1600 Vulcan as a perfect example).

I guess you could say I'm a little picky when it comes to how bikes look.

Victory is a Polaris company. They are pretty well known for reliability all around. When Canadians decide to do it right they build tight stuff.

I was pretty tempted by the 8 ball. Its a good looking bike. I really liked how I could toss it back and forth between my knees. I could never do that with a Road Star. But its a different bike for different purpose. I really liked it.

Yeah... I feel the same way: I can't get past the tall square jugs and the shaft drive.

My dealership is a Honda, Polaris, and Kawasaki dealership, in addition to being a Star dealer. I looked at the Victories, looked at the Honda Shadows, the Kawis... I looked over at the Roadie sitting there, and it was love at first sight. The lines just spoke to me. And then riding it... I knew I'd found my bike.

The guy I bought my R* from said he went on a long trip with a buddy who rode the Victory. It broke down and they waited 4 days for parts. That turns me off. I like to be able to fix or have fixed whatever whenever, wherever.

But then again, I'm the kind of guy who shoots a 30-06 and says good enough vs. shooting a 300 Weatherby. There's something to be said about finding ammo anywhere!
