and they don't recommend doing it by flipping the bone and said it created a geometry problem. Maybe they want to sell something, maybe not.

i have heard of this before.

the geometry problem is the angles that the flip puts the shock at, not the steering (as other kits would change this the same)

it seems that the flip changes the angle at which the shock sits causing an element of vertical stress in the longitudal axis due to the different position of articulation of the bellcrank and dogbones, and can allegedly knacker the shock in less miles than normal.

i´ve spoken to folks that have done the flip who have had no problems, but also others who have killed the shock.

worth taking into consideration one way or another......

Post edited by: erizo, at: 2007/03/30 03:57

I also have cobra pipes and I too caught the bottom on a couple of right turns. I was ready to flip right back, but stupid me, I should have done the flip first and then installed my pipes. Think about it, your dropping the ass end so of course your dropping the end of the pipes too. I put it up on the lift last night, took off the exhaust and re-aligned it. I had to slot the holes on the mounting bracket so I could pitch the pipes up towards the rear. I was able to get them up almost 2". I cheated them slightly as they actually are not level with the bike, but are level with the ground. To stand back and look at it you can't tell.

Post edited by: Yamahawg, at: 2007/03/30 11:09
