Anyone familiar with hyper chargers know why the butterflies would quit closing when there is vacuum present in hose???

Just guessing here but maybe a leak in the hose/manifold or the butterfly's are stuck (WD-40 to lube).

Don't quite understand your question.
Hyperchargers run mostly open butterflys when the bike is running and or rev'd (hence vacuum present) and close when bike is off. I had a Kury H/P on my 650 Vstar and thats how it worked. Found out from here you don't really need one on the R* AND it sticks out too far.

I would lube them to make sure they are not stuck. You may check and make sure when you put the cover on it is not crooked of pinching the butterflys.

The Butterflys actually close when a vaccuum is present and open as the vaccum is increased when there is no vacccuum they remain all the way open. I have had one on mine since I bought it almost 10 years ago and it took a little bit of getting used to because it does stick a little farther but I don't even notice it at all now
