I checked the Tech Articles and didn't find anything. I want to move my plate to the tire side but what do you do with the space that it is in from the factory & is it a simple project?

Bush:

You can plug the holes. Or, re-paint the fender.

It's not an easy move, but well worth it...

Here, in the nanny-state of Massachusetts... it's illegal!

Like so much else... oh, did I mention, we have a highly paid, full-time legislature?

most states want that license plate horizontal which is really why most guys are getting busted (and vertical has been outlawed in many places). Needs to be as far back and as close to centerline as possible with lights on it. Oh and dont bend it either. Most officers of the law (the guys hiding and running radar ) dont want to see anything that looks "different", they dont know the law on plate placement any better than we do. Here in California the plate has to be 12" off the ground which most arent if you side mount. I did a big search and its relaly hard to find the applicable sections of federal law that the manufacturers build to.

Yep, I got busted for a side mount plate. So, make sure you check your state laws before you take the effort to do the mod.
