Seriously? 2 Years, 10 Months ago
The office where I work has about 800 employees, and I've been here for 11 years. Everyone knows me by reputation for performance at work, and by my bike. It's always parked in the designated bike spots, with 5-6 others, and never had any trouble....until today.
A co-worker grabbed me this morning and asked if that was my bike with the tassels on the levers. It was. She said that there was someone outside near the bike spots, smoking (nothing wrong with that), and griping about my bike.
I walked outside, came up behind the guy and asked him if there was a problem that I could help him with. It seems like he feels I parked too close to his cruiser (to remain brand-less to avoid brand-bashing). He took exception to the possibility that my front tire might flop from the right to the left and damage his hard bags in some way. I told him there was no possibility of that, and that if had been riding for very long at all he would know that the front end doesn't just shift like that, all by itself.
He proceeded to cuss up a storm, while I just grinned at him. He didnt like that very much, and expecially not when I turned and walked away. I went and got my key from my desk, went to start and move the bike, and he was already moving his. He shut his down, started to lecture me about respect and space, and being cool. My reply was that he wasn't my mom or my wife or my boss, and was in no place to teach me anything about respect. He asked me if I'd like to "settle this after work". All of this occurred in from of people who have known me for years.
I love my job...or this could ahve been fun!!! He's been here about 4 months, looks a lot like a short-fat Stone Cold Steve Austin, and really isn't worth my time. Who knows WHY he had that particular chip on his shoulder today?

Two questions: Where did the "brotherhood of bikers" go? If I were to wish some crazy voo-doo spell on him, what would you recommend?

It's all actually funny, now that the adrenaline is gone!!

I wouldn't give it another second of thought. Life is just too short to waste a minute of effort to try and understand the reasons why some folks are jerks.

Maybe he has an ingrown toenail, he didn't get any last night (or maybe he did?!) or possibly he's just ticked off that his payment is due on his ride and yours is probably paid off. Take your pick.

I say, go for a nice long ride and let the wind and the magic of two wheels massage away the bad feelings about this.

LOL.....thankfully my head-tube bearings are adjusted correctly and "flop" isn't an issue I have to deal with!

I sounds like he could use some bran in his diet. Bring him a bran muffin for his coffee break.

You did the right thing by walking away. While it may have been satisfying to crack him up along side the head, the satisfaction would be short-lived, while the ramifications could be long-term. Move on and don't worry about it. You were definitely the "bigger" man today.

Dklaz, This was obviously your fault! You delibertly parked your bike, which has a bigger motor, more horsepower, more torque, is twice the bike [at half the money] next to his. Shame on you! It's not nice to tease the monkeys!
