Driver Backrest made by Custom World Intl. 7 Years, 1 Month ago
I am considering a driver backrest for my stock saddle (2004 silverado 1700) made by Custom World Int'l. Hellriser has the studded model for $240.95. I have also looked at a model from Pro-tac at about half the price but Custom World's is alot nicer looking and is adjustable. Does anyone own one of these pieces or has anyone dealt with Hellriser. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Vick.

Just my opinion, but don't go with the protac. Had one on a V-Star 650, worked ok but didn't look real great. Also, had to modify my yamaha hardbags to get it to fit. Go to j&p cycles, in their metric book on page 101 there's a great looking backrest that looks like it mounts under the passengers pillion, and it's cheaper than the one you are considering.

I know what you mean about protac. I had one on my 1400 Intruder and it worked ok but looked kinda cheesy. The one by BakUp in JP does look pretty good but I dont think they make'em studded to match my saddle. Thanks for the input Brother.

Post edited by: vickk12785, at: 2005/04/30 03:23

I can not add input on any of the backrests referred to on the previous post.

However, I can highly recommend both Hellriser Customs and J&P Cycles as dependable honest and reliable suppliers of aftermarket motorcycle accessories.

I have purchased a lot of items from both and taken advantage of their tech support often.

Good luck and ride safe!

You could also build your own backrest. I followed the directions found in the Tech tips section and built one for around $35. Went to home depot and bought 1/4 metal bar 2 inch wide 36 inch long for $5 and ordered pad from yamaha for $30 dollars. If you want studded pad they cost a little more.

I bought one from Hellriser last month and have been riding with it for the last 600 miles. I am very happy. It is made form quality materials and installs easily and perfectly on the rear fender with extended bolts provided. It looks like it "belongs" on the bike, not a home made add on. When I forst bought it I thought it was a bit more than I'd like to pay, but now that i've had it for awhile, I think its definitely worth the price

I managed to find a brother who had a stock studded sissy bar pad. He let it go for $20 and the steel cost me about $10. I wanted to get it chromed but its illegal to chrome in NY state so I painted it black for now. I think it came out pretty nice if I do say so myself.

I designed and built my own. I wanted to chrome it but chroming is illegal in NY state and all the out of state chromers I talked to were backed up at least a month so I'll just wait till the off season. I love how Paul Teuttle gets his stuff back in a day or so and he's about 20 minutes away from me. It doesn't look too bad painted black. One of our brothers in Indiana was good enough to sell me his sissy bar pad for $20 and the steel was under $10 so I figure I'm $200 ahead.
