Devil's advocate here.....
First of all, the guy obviously had his head way up his arse to steam and fret and carry on about what if's. He should have moved his bike if he thought it was at risk, period..... Secondly however, after 50 posts of how everyone agrees and he should be "dealt with", I think he may have had a valid point. Your kickstand is on your left just like all of ours. With the forks properly adjusted the wheel "usually" won't flop? If you have your windshield on though, or you're on a slight left-down tilt, a little wind or a bump of someone walking between bikes could move it easily to flop to the left. I've seen it with many bikes, mine included, even without wind. So, I don't agree that you can absolutely be certain it won't move, or even that he's foolish or uneducated for thinking so. When I park my bike I always turn the bars to the left. I know it isn't moving as the bike is leaning that direction. Third, maybe his brand of cruiser is known for easily rotating forks. I'm sure that some are more than others, depending on bar weight, tire resistance, turniung moment, probably other factors too. I know if we tighten the R* forks to not flop just a bit too much the bike wants to weave instead of track down the road. SO, again I say if he thought he was at risk, he should have just moved his bike. To you though, I believe you might want to make sure your bike can't swing into someone else's accidentally. Particularly in the situation you described, because if the forks are going to swing, it will be to the left (downhill).

inthegarage,
I hadn't considered that perspective, and I suppose in the right circumstances what you describe is a possibility. I'l keep that in mind from now on when I park the bike. Either way, there was space, and the bikes weren't that close, even IF the bike had shifted.
The whole thing has confirmed a couple ideas to me: You never know what's going badly in someone's life, so be a little understanding. My job, my status among my colleagues, and my self-respect aren't worth indulging his invitation to "settle it". This is a really cool place to hang out, share perspective, and learn about our bikes and how to "play well with others".

Ride on!

I noticed it was soft when I lef the4 office on Wednesday after the "incident"....checked for anything stuck in it and rolled on home. Bummer! Can you whip the wheel off and take it to get a tube stuck in it so you can carry on with the weekends plans? Even if you called your shop and told them you were to be out of town , maybe they can fit you in first thing tomorrow morning. Good shops will do that. And then you guys could be on your way..... I'll get it done this afternoon, no problem. There are a ton of shops within a mile or two of my house, and I have a pretty good deal going with a couple of them.

It's all good!
