Mornin JB

I'm not sure I want a longer manifold so the carb sticks out in my way just to fix a bad design by Yami. There are things we can spend money on to try and fix the problem. I'm trying to narrow down the causes. Other V twins have the carb in the same place without this problem. I'm pretty sure all carbs get hot from air cooled V twin motors. Bottom line is we shouldn't have to change a thing to keep our bikes from overflowing gas all over out motors.

Hey Musky,

Just another idea. Since the problem appears to be caused when you have ridden the bike and then stopped for awhile. The bike is leaning towards the left with the carb in the high spot. The residule heat from the rear cylinder escaping between the cylinders and out on the right side overheats the carb.

Could we just put the stand on the other side, move or remove the fuel pump and let the heat excape out the left side? That way if the carb did leak, it might miss the pipes and drip harmlessly on the ground. Kind of the same thing JB was talking about without the carb sticking out further.

I'm not yet sure if Yamaha or Mikuni is my target for blame, looking more towards a fix.

I sure don't know all the ways to fix the problem. I'm sure there is more than one way.

I do know for a fact that if I put the kickstand on the other side my bike would have an ever increasing collection of dents, scratches, and broken parts and I would have arms like Arnold's from picking it back up everytime I parked.

I've never had the puking problem myself but then again I have a strange PMS problem too. Who's to say that the SVS and the puking problem arn't all related in some way? Even my crazy PMS as they are all fuel related.
