Spoke wheels 2007 Silverado 2 Years, 9 Months ago
Looking to see what the stock spoke wheels are made of? Actually I want to polish the spokes, I like it when they shine. Was thinking of using the Mothers power ball that attaches to a cordless drill.
Any thoughts. I keep them pretty clean but want that new shiny look to my wheels. I wonder how pledge would work on the spokes?

Be very careful not to put a lot of pressure on the spokes when you clean them. It's a soft finish and hard rubbing or frequent cleaning can take the chrome off. Not the best finish in the world. I use a bottle of S100 wheel cleaner and lightly spray the spokes and rims, then use low water pressure to rinse it off. A power ball will likely take the finish off in no time. Pledge is probably okay, but again be careful how much pressure you apply to clean it up. Just my opinion.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Think I'll try the s100 and then rinse with the hose.

I agree ... the nickel finish on the spokes is 'very bad' to put it mildly. Any kind of polishing quickly removes the finish and they turn black.

Yes I am not overly inmpressed by the finish on the spokes as mine are dark gray. I'm thinking about powder coating them black or going with the chrome. I would rather have the mag though I would like to go tubeless.

You can go tubless if you seal the rims with silicone..
