New to the forum Exhaust question 5 Years, 1 Month ago
Hi, new to the forum. Plan to pick my new (2005)Silverado up on Tuesday. It still has the stock pipes on it. Considering that I have V+H straight shots with no baffles in my Vulcan, these pipes are way outta here.

I am wondering what the best pipe is for the sound of this bike. I do prefer 2-2 pipes. I have heard that Hard Krome 3" big straights are good and loud. Also the new pipes from V+H. Any other suggestions?

I am not planning to rejet just yet. But, when I do, I will put the BAK on it I think.

Thanks

Welcome to the Clinic.

The sound and look of pipes is very subjective but in general if you want to maintain the stock torque you need to stay with the 2 to 1 design.

You going about it the right way - chose the look you want first. After that, the sound depends on what you perceive as 'nice'. If possible, try and hear a few. If not, it's mostly hearsay and luck of the draw.

BTW .... usually the larger the diameter of the pipe the deeper the tone but the less torque, unless you put in baffles or torque cones.

Welcome to the Clinic and congrats on the new Roadie.

I have Cobra Lo-Boys. They have sound clips on the Cobra site of the pipes they sell for the Roadie so you can get an idea of what they sound like.

Welcome to the forum Dave. Like Doc said pipes are subjective. Ya get a set of pipes and like the sound then you add an air cleaner mod and the sound will change a little. I had to play around with mine and make my own baffles to get the sound I wanted with the look I wanted. Welcome to the world of tinkering and chrome.
