Seat Won't Latch 2 Years, 6 Months ago

Hi all back with more problems. I just removed my seat and tank with out any problems so
I could change my spark plugs. Every thing went great. Last time I changed them I used anti-
seeze so the old plugs came right out and the new ones right back in. Got the tank back on
without any trouble. When it was all done I tried to put my seat back on and it wont latch.
The seat has always been kind of hard to get off, but I never had any problems getting it
back on. I took the tank back off and tried to get it to work but still no go. I pushed down
on the latch with a screwdriver but it springs right back to the open position. I've tried
my spare key, but that doesn't help any. Any one out there have any Ideas?
