Re:Having a REAL bad day 2 Years, 9 Months ago
LOL....this is getting comical!

So last week I bought a set of Venture bags. They'd been stripped of the latches and locks, but they did have the latches listed separately. Got the parts in today and sure enough...one of the latch lever arms was missing.

At first I wasn't to worried about it as I'd just order one when I ordered the locks. That idea only lasted about 20 minutes though as all three places I checked online showed the lever arm on back-order. #$&%!

So I then begin the game of trying to get in touch with the seller to have them check around their shop for it. They don't respond to emails, so I spent the next 3 hours continually redialing their number and getting a busy signal. Finally get through around 4:30 and the lady on the phone acts as if she could care less and I'm totally disrupting her universe with my inquiry about the missing part. In the end, all I got from her was "I'll have someone check the packing area for it."

I'm really starting to think the man upstairs really doesn't want me to have saddlebags on my bike. LOL

Re:Having a REAL bad day 2 Years, 9 Months ago
Finally making some progress. Just got back from dropping the bags and brackets off to the painter and should have them back early next week. My new locks and hinge aren't due in until then anyway, so no real rush.

Only thing I'm worried about right now is that missing latch lever. Haven't heard anything back on the one they lost, so even though it's back-ordered I went ahead and ordered one with the other parts I needed. Figure this will double my odds of having one on hand when I go to put the bags back together.

Well, after almost 2 months I finally got my bags, mounts and front fender back from the painter. Never mind the fact that they still aren't painted (or even primed for that matter).

Took me the last three weeks just to run down the painter so I could get them back. He was a master at not answering his phone, not replying to emails and text messages, never showing up at his shop and not answering the door at his house. It was only after I threatened to let myself into his shop with a sledgehammer that he finally surfaced.

Have to get a hold of another guy tomorrow to see about getting them painted. At this point though there's no rush as our riding season is all but over here in NW Ohio.

and I thought it was going to be good news with some awesome shots of the finsihed bags.

Man, what an ordeal. I hope they look fantastic when done but you have to be about over the entire project by now. keep the cold beers flowin' and hopefully it'll all work out for ya. I feel yer pain brother.

Yeah, the idea of saying F-it and selling the bike to be rid of the headache once and for all has crossed my mind more than once in the last few months, but in the end (whenever that day may come) all the frustrations and setbacks will be worth it.

And since I knew you'd all be expecting pictures, here's some real ugly teasers. Lighting isn't the best in the garage so disregard the crappy quality.

Plenty of exhaust clearance with the Samson Street Sweepers - 3/4" to be exact.

Didn't have the 1/4" spacers between the bag and bracket here as I didn't have bolts long enough, so the bags will sit out a hair more.
