hello i am seriously considering selling this damn thing.one headache after another.do any of you guys get real bad wind buffiting?this is driving me insane and im not having fun with this bike anymore.i love to wrench but this among other road* problems is pushing me over the limit.i have made a great set of lowers and that helped out great.but i took them off to go back to stock bars for comfort reasons and some fairing issues i wont mention and when i reinstalled them they are now vibrating so bad its pathetic.dont know why, nothing has changed i think im just having a bad life.anyway.have any of you used a taller windshield for this problem?seems to me the lowers were the answer as the wind comes from under the fairing and over the top makes no sense. but not much is with this bike anymore.i just thought maybe a taller windshield may help but want some advice before i wast more money on something i regret buying.sorry to complain just tired of this bike and all its normal issues let alone the after market parts quality. thanks in advance. Steve

Count to ten ~ Take a deep breath. I don't know what a WOC Fairing is, But I just bought a Batwing and I had way more problems than this. Anywho, not to minimize your problems, In my install I had to do away with the HD lowers I put on and the wind that comes in on me is insane! So I am on the same boat er a bike as you.

When my real Fairing comes in and I get it on I'll be working on same problem, I do know that Makcap has done a LOT of research on this and has a pile of parts that did not work, but the things called wind whippers that he did install seemed to work pretty good. If I get the same amount of wind with the new Fairing that is suppose to be on my bike, then I'll be looking at doing some of those.

Maybe he can post a pic of his. But when I put my hand there, it seems that is where all the wind is coming from. (Front of tank)

My Harley lowers vibrated like crazy for about 6000 miles between 60 and 70mph but was worth the trade off to get rid of the buffeting . I tried every ones advice on how to stop the vibrating.
I too was about to remove them and realized that the bar that attaches to the lowers and runs under the headlight was rubbing/vibrating against the light bar that holds the turn signals and passing lamps.....we are talking about an 1/8 of an inch gap that when the lowers deflect it causes the obnoxious noise . I wedged some rubber from some line mans gloves and now...total silence.
Hope this helps...and that is one cool looking bike you have!

Louie I run the Yami Tall winshield and my home made set of lowers. I can ride with my ball cap on pointed with the bill forward smoking a cigarette. If an ash falls off it goes forward and then up over the top of the windshield. I get NO buffeting at all you just need the tall widshield and my lowers. BTW I am 5'-8" 165 lbs.

Not familiar with WOC I know a couple of guys have that one. You are getting up draft coming around the gas tank. I took some chrome lower and tapped the shield mount round bar and drilled the lowers worked till I put lower fairings on. Then I went with wind whippers didn't fit my application but people swear by them. I made patterns and had a glass shop cut them so they are not true wind whippers. The concept is to get them as close to the gas tank without hitting the frame or gas tank. A piece of aluminum angle to mount your lexan to.
I can smoke just fine you might want to look at a KLocks flair shield. Again not sure if WOC will except a FLH shield.

thanks that may be the issue.i will look at that for shure and if thats it you be the man.thanks for the comment.that is another reason im so pissed about this.i worked my but off to get this bike where it is.i dont need more problems.i still got to figure out why when i shut the bike off the starter stays engauged.i think the stock relays are junk.and still have in my mind to rip all the stuff off my bike and trade it on a fuel injected model.this thing waste more gas than a semi at idle from puking.

Wow, I am very happy with my WOC fairing. I have never ridden with a windshield (about20years) until I bought my Midnight. I put the WOC on and can't really tell a differance except I have a nice stereo to listen to now! Sure it vibrates a bit and makes noises, deal with it and fix em' ask Javawave he will tell you how to install the pipe wrap inside the fairing to stop rattles. It just takes time and you will like it, it's new.

Yea don't hestitate to go pumpless to cure the puking. Cost is like $30 and you can sell your pump for that.

On the lowers, I used plastic and rubber washers to shim mine so they were slightly (Very Slightly) further from the forks on the bottom than the top. I had no vibration at any speed from 0 to over 100.

Not sure how bad the started sticks, if it's the roll back I get sometimes, I just shut it off and at the same time pop the clutch out as to stall the motor.

Seriously, go pumpless!
