Hey RK. You use a hair dryer to remove Yamy's brand on the fender? Thats what I did when I first got the bike home 3 years ago on the tank and windshield stickers. I gotta get the fender and side covers cleaned up too. Just wondering if the old ladies blow dryer is the way to go? Later BroPost edited by: vickk12785, at: 2007/03/30 02:20

Vick--

Actually, I found a great way to do it, and it's damn near effortless. I just got a shop rag and folded it into a nice little rectangle big enough to cover the sticker. I then laid the rag over the sticker and then soaked the rag in "Goop Off" (any one of the commercial adhesive removers should do...thought about acetone, but it evaporates too quickly) and made sure the rag was contacting the sticker. Then I went and did something else...I think it was bleeding the back brakes. After about an hour, the sticker pretty much just wiped off! Had to scratch a little with my thumbnail, but nothing else. Did the same with the lovely orange & white sticker on the Yami Big Bars. That one, I just played like the rag was a throttle, and I rotated it back & forth....I guess I 'blipped' my Big Bars. Took a little more effort, but it came off after about a minute. The windshield sticker gets the same treatment... very easy!

Hope that helps--

RK

Yeah. That's better.

Yeah, yeah...fine...so my wife saw the ring girls, asked questions, and I had to explain...trust me, the drawing was the quickest fix I've done lately.

Well gad somewhere on here or on the RSR site I found a link to tests that were made on filters. They cut them apart and looked at the construction and the materials that when into them. Th etop was the Amsoil filter and the next was the K&N, Fram was one on the lower ones. I use the K&N on my truck and bike. Good oil and good filter a good insurance.

I just replaced my side covers...no badges...but I imagine I'd do them the same as the tank badges. I took a tip from Doc and used a piece of heavy test fishing line and ran it behind the badge, basically sawing or flossing it off. Worked great! I poured a little adhesive remover on the badges first and let it sit for bit before sawing. Now, whatever the hell that fibrous gray crap was under the tank badges...that stuff was made to hold the Space Shuttle together! Took forever to get off the tank...

It..is...ALIVE!!!

Been messing with the bike for weeks now, as many of you know.

Well, I finally finished her tonight! And it even runs! Too late to take it out for a test, but she starts right up. All I have lest to d is WOT test and adjust carb.

Ended up making over 20 mods to get to this point. I'll post some pics when I get some in the sunshine (chrome look crappy with a camera flash! )

But for the time being, meet my Road Star's new ass! I got tired of being nearly invisible from the rear at night, what with the taillight being the only running light. So, I made a few improvements... Don't think I'll be easy to miss now! Lights shown are just the running lights. The kit I got for converting the rear blinkers to running & brake lights is GREAT!

RK
