No idea if I broke the steering stops. Hopefully it's OK. Do you mean the bike's a total loss if that's broken?

As far as doing the repairs myself - it has crossed my mind. I am reasonably mechanically inclined, but haven't done any work on my bike before. I have tools, but am not prepared to do any welding or metal fabrication myself.

The jacket is an Xelement that I got from leatherup.com. It was like $60, came with a full liner, and is still in great shape.

Insurance is definitely going to be involved, since the bike hit the pickup in front of me, so pretty sure it will be covered (aside from the ded.).

Thanks, all. Gonna take a couple more Advil and lie down, I think. Ugh. Anybody know a good remedy for wounded pride?
