Re:Seat Won't Latch 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Mine has an issue like that sometimes, but it's solved by just pulling up on the brass latch hard with my finger, and then it snaps back up into the "ready to latch position"... from what you're saying yours comes up but won't hold? That sounds different.

Re:Seat Won't Latch 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Well I tried soaking it with WD-40 and it still doesn't work.
Tried pulling up on the brass latch and that didn't help so
I ordered a new one. Wont be in until Friday. It's going to
be a long week.
Deedot, did you have any issues hooking the cable back up?
What about any kind of adjustment?
Thanks Everyone for the help
Denny

Mine hooked up just great - no adjustment necessary. I hope you have the same luck!

Re:Seat Won't Latch 2 Years, 5 Months ago
I'm having the same problem with mine. I can't imagine it being worn down since I've only lifted the seat 7 or 8 times in 2 years. I'm going to try and drown the whole mechanism in wd40 and see what happens.

Hey Denny and DeeDot, Any more details about your replacement of the whole mechanism? Just in case I need to do that.

Thanks in advance.

If you get it clean and adjusted so it works good, use a dry lube like white lithium or powdered graphite on it to keep it from gunking up again.

Pretty easy bolt-in. If I'm remembering correctly, the latch mechanism is held in with two bolts, and then you just need to disconnect the cable.

Re:Seat Won't Latch 2 Years, 4 Months ago
The repair was simple.

Thanks to Deedot for posting the part number.

I replaced it by flashlight and with my trusty gerber. A simple repair indeed.

I hosed it down with wd-40 just for good measure. I don't want to replace this thing every couple years so I'll fog it every time I wash the bike.

How is the hook on the bottom of seat? I was having same issue cleaned mechanism and then wouldn't catch, pull on latch seemed to work but was still tough, turned out that one side of the weld on my seat hook broke loose, just enough that it was not lining up correctly, Just an idea.
