Yeah, now I remember that my left bag lowering mounts have an offset that moves the bracket out about 1/4". Where the guard was hitting was on the very outside of it. I looked at where the belt would go as the suspension moves and it doesn't appear that it will hit.

As for the whirling rubber scarf sucker....hey, no guts no glory
