changing rear spring - shock mods needed? 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Hey I'm hoping someone who has upgraded to a stiffer rear spring can help me on this. I went to buy a spring and I had two different dealers tell me I need to have the shock revalved at the same time or it will be like riding on a pogo stick. Anyone out there do this, or did you just swap out the spring and call it good? While I'm at it, anyone have a spring they recommend? I was looking at the 930 lb eibach spring that Barons sells.

Thanks and Happy Easter.

Just added a Looney 850-1250 progressive spring last weekend. Didn't do anything to the shock and it deffinetly is not a pogo stick. It cured all my bottoming out issues two up and almost cured dragging my pipes when getting a little to aggressive in the twisties

Thanks for the welcome Coug. 40+ years on cycles, new to this computer stuff. I guess as my son says, Dad you aren't that old!! Yes Looneys offers a spring supressor for loan to install their spring. Seem like some real good folk to deal with. Their spring is the best, no doubt mod I have done yet on the R*. Bucket

Thank you Cougar and rbucket for the responses. I'm going to go with that Looney progressive spring. Seems perfect for what I need. Luckily I already have a spring compression tool so it should be a fairly straightforward swap.
