Ditto here as well. . . .I just got 206.6 Miles on a tank of gas. . .then put in 4.1 gals . . . that's the first time I broke 50MPG. . .Alot of this tank was two up and the wife don't like to go faster than the speed limit. She's not used to all the room, but she's getting there. It's an awesome ride. Oh and the torque. . .son!

After being an Air Craft mechanic for so long, it's tough to "just" change fluids and check the air and go, but I'm getting used to it.

Maybe Yami should make Airplanes? No More crashes!!

50 mpg !?!

Dang, I'm only getting a little more than 35 mpg at a steady 95mph on a 115 mile interstate highway trip. We'll see how it does after the factory warranty rebuild and 10.25 pistons, 42mm flatside etc.. before I start to tinker.

Regardless, my Road Star is awesome, comfort, power, looks and durability .. kinda like when I grudgingly got my Dodge Caravan Sport, I'll never own anything else on purpose.

I feel lucky.

I couldn't be happier with my R*.
I wonder what people who don't have a motorcycle and are looking to buy. If they were to read this site and not do anymore research they would think that Yamaha just can't build a motorcycle. There are so many questions about problems that one would wonder if they run half the time or not.
I personally think the R* is the best thing on the road. I'm sure there are those would agree and disagree but it works for me.
I have never had any problems and wonder what all the flap is about.
Love the Road Star.

Well I already posted on this but I got to again!! Wife is out of town so I decided to finish up with my AIS removal. AND I got tired of people asking me "what's that golf tee looking thingy in that tube for?" If she would have seen my tank and speedo on the garage floor, she would have freaked. . . .so I couldn't sleep Friday night and figured I'd go ahead and do this. . .Never done this before so. . everyone here said it was about a 30 min job, Ok, I up for the task. . .I took off the tube and where they put that nipple is . . . well I couldn't believe it. . .needle nose pliers. . .where did I put those. Tackle box. . .leatherman. . .hmmmm anyway about 2 hours later, it was done. Didn't want to wake up the neighbors so I waited till Saturday to start it up. I rode it for about 100 miles and something was wrong. . .I mean it ran great before I did the tube. . .but it actually sounded much better now. . .Oh I got to polish the heads a little better and wiped off the frame somewhat. . . .

I know. . I'm rambling but if you take anything out of this take this: These 'well oiled machines' like to be petted!! And talked to and dressed up once in a while. . . again.. these are great and I have withdrawals when I don't get to ride!!

Keep the rubber down and the speedo to the sky!

You sound surprised? But don't expect to get 50mpg at that speed(95mph), won't happen. With the stock carb after 70, 75mph, you're eating gas. With the 42hsr there are some things you can do to get aprox 45mpg at 80mph, but again, eating gas after that speed. Mikuni uses 65mph as their cruise speed to determine mpg's. Think about it, does your car get the same mpg at 55, 60mph and at 95mph? Nope!

Re:NO COMPLAINTS THE R* IS RUNNING GREAT 2 Years, 4 Months ago
An +1 from my end. It's been running hard and smooth all summer. But that's after a heavier weight nonspec temporary generic vac hose was put on this spring by my seller who again decided to do a half assed repair under the extended star warranty(they will do the work but keep the bike for at least 2 months to do a simple fix) The extended star program cost close to $600.00-NEVER BUY IT. This is after the same thing happened last fall. This time they told me it was a blown head and had to order the parts, but after two months of not getting any feed back, I E mailed them and was told it was again a decayed vacuum hose. Say what-ordered all those parts for a blown head without looking at the bike? Never Mind, as long as I didn't have to pay for them. It really worries me that they can't tell the differnece between a blown head and a rotted piece of rubber hose-Not sure if I am going back to them again.

I get upper 40's mostly with the wife riding around western Ohio, east central and southern Indiana. Put over 6,000 miles on her since new in April and have NO COMPLAINTS and she is running great. Love the Roadstar.
