Relocated fuel pump concern 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Hi guys.
So over the weekend I did the fuel pump relocation with lots of help from the tech pages and previous posts. Fantastic!! I love ...But, I'm a little concerned about the fuel line going to the carb. I had to run it awefully close to the rear cylinder head and all that heat and rubber makes me a little uneasy. Can I rap it in something or sheild it somehow? Should I be concerned?

I used the long spring on the fuel line for the problem

Yea just take that spring off the line that was here, remove the line you have now where it goes into the tank and slide that spring on. It should be long enough to do what you need. You can always put it in the spot you like and black tape it to the line to hold it in place. Most V twins have the line running right through there no problems.

I reused the metal line that ran between the jugs. I took it off and bent it so that it was a better fit and wrapped it with some more insulation. I don't have any problem at all. BUT I will tell you that is ONE TOUGH line to bend.

Here's something I'm gonna' try when I change to stainless braided line this winter. This will keep the heat off the line between the jugs. Insulation Used it on a race car Where the fuel line got close to the headers. Works great & inexpensive.

The marine industry has some CG approved fuel line that can withstand open flame. I haven't tried it on the bike, but have used it on a boat..Didn't test it tho...

I did the fuel pump relocation last summer and had the same concern. I am an engineer for a fuel pump manufacturer and we had a fuel hose vendor in discussing some of their new products. I expressed my concern to him about the hose contacting the top of the cylinder head and he assured me there would not be a problem unless it came in contact with an exhaust pipe. I have not had any issues with my installation thus far...knock on wood.

ya i would think normal fuel tubing wouldn't be a prob as mention unless its laying on the pipes. heads/jugs get hot, but not like pipes. near heads
