The 3/8" line that runs from the air pump to the cylinder head is attached with a gear(hose) clamp and looks like someone made a poor repair job
??? maybe its only done this way in canada eh

I understand that part. It's the keeping it operational that threw me I suppose you could use those pinch clamps but I don't know how hard they are to get off.

Hey Kip

There's nothing wrong with leaving it on. If you're happy that's what counts.

Hey Guys,
While we are talking about the AIS, does anyone besides me think the thing sounds like you have a "Supercharger" whistling whe the RPM's are climbing ?

I am going to remove mine before long, just haven't wanted to park it that long. It will rain in a week or two and I can do it then.

Just wondered about the noise.

Yup .... it makes a noise. But then if I had one, with my hearing I probably would not hear it. \\

Other than looks what are the advantages of removing the AIS. I still have mine on and do not have any problems. Is there a performance gain? I have vance and hines long shots (no baffles), BAK, and ported intake. Just wondering. I really enjoy the info on the site. Thanks guys...

No performance gain.

Injection of air into aftermarket pipes sometimes causes a popping sound .... depends on carb setup and the amount of baffling you have.

I am rather new to this site and I was just out in the garage and noticed that my AIS is still on the bike and hooked up. I have noticed that when I back off the throttle that I do get a popping noise. Is there a post here where anyone explains in detail on the procedure of removing it and the parts/tools involved as well? Thanks, this is a great site and very informative.

mine is the same way, kind of looks like someone just found some clamps lying around and threw them on for a quick fix.

If you have the california model it's different. It covers that in the tech tips too.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have a K&N air setup with Vance & Hines longshots with no baffles.
