Clifford you were able to roll start a R* even in 5th gear?? I had my starter relay act up and we had 2 guys try and push start me even in 5th the back tire just wanted to skid and would not roll over. I resigned myself to figure the only way I could roll start would be tow it behind a car till I got up to about 20mph then and only then in 5th I might get this beast to turn over!!!

I haven't tried to push start it with people pushing me, but I have started it rolling down a hill. In Florida I use the word "hill" loosly. I just tried it on a dead end road. I made a dry run from a standing start I was doing 10 MPH at the stop sign; I started the engine with the starter , turned around and went back to the start point. I started it rolling again and with it in fifth gear at about 8 MPH I popped the clutch and had her going.

using jumper cables go directly to the starter briefly & see if she cranks over, or starter spins.

these things have compression release valves actuated through a lever that goes through the cam shaft to aid in cranking it over.

i wouldnt get more than 10 feet tryin to push her till i was pooped!

Democracy is two wolves and a small lamb voting on whats for dinner. Freedom under a constitutional republic is a well armed lamb.
