They told me at the dealership that the one that mounts to the plate is for the older R*'s. The one that mounts to the luggage rack is for the '03 or the '04 and up. If it mounts to the luggage rack I think it will fit the short sissy bar. My brother has a short rest and it fits on his '07. D J
