Doc-

I wouldn't do chaps either on ME...I definitely prefer warmth "down there", which is why chaps never made sense to me. I guess they're great if warmth isn't an issue, and if you fall you only fall and scrape the tops of your thighs.

What I was talking about is a set I got that go on the Yami Big Bar to keep the wind off. Even had pockets sewn on the back for more storage (can't have too much storage!).

I was thinking about some leather overpants, though. A dyed-in-the-wool HD guy at work just got a set and they look really sharp...they have the suspenders built in and double-layer zippers all the way up the legs. Of course, he HAD to buy HD brand for $600, but I think I'll go see what Dennis Kirk has. They had a set a few months back for about $225, I believe. Silly, silly brand loyal people.

I read his chap comment too fast and thought it was the kind you wear.

I posted and then deleted but he caught me.

Now we have Musky going around in circles.

Overpants sound like a good idea for cold weather wind protection and would definitely be better that Gortex in a slide.

Post the link if you find them.

'cause RK is one of the smarter ones around here.

Rather than hi-jacking a post he responded in a different thread when the topic changed. plus he likes to see himself as the author of many posts.

Musky & Doc--

Here's the link to the ones I was looking at. Looks like yours might be the better deal, Musky. One thing I've always been wary of, though, and that's only because I know nothing about it...is buffalo leather as tough as cowhide?

RK

Also found these after the original post...almost can't go wrong for the price! I'll just add a pair of the big black work suspenders from Wal Mart!

RK

Had a pair of Buffalo leather chaps..now have cowhide...

Buffalo leather is strong and durable ...yet soft and flexible
I liked the buffalo better...almost like a heavy weight deerskin...

There are however some new cowhides that are soft now too.."Naked leather"...

Chilhowee pants look real good idea to me..bought my leathers for both the wifeand I... gloves /jackets/ chaps/ mud flaps and buffalo butter from chilhowee and love all their stuff

they are top notch

And that is where i would get my engine guard chaps too
