Mine were a bolt on as well. I used some black spacers that I found in the plumbing dept. of H-D (Home Depot

) They deflect the air reasonably well. I'd be happier if they moved it away from my legs better but they do an OK job at that. They do stop dead air from coming over the tank which was my main concern anyway. The big upside to them is that they allow the use of the Yami big bar engine gaurds and don't hit or bind on them. And they are WAYYYY cheaper than the Star parts.
