glad to see you´re alright mate.

did you make the floorboard extensions with the degrees or in line?

i made some with the degrees, and they sucked! the heel of the running board was lower than standard afterwards and dragged in every corner. there was so much grinding it felt like i was riding a heritage.

i made some more, but in line at 0º. much more comfortable and gained a bit more ground clearence. my tyres now have 10 - 15mm chicken strips on the sides WITHOUT decking out the running boards (ya gotta love me880´s)

Thanks, Erizo...and yeah, they were the ones that moved the boards 3.5" forward and tilted 10 degrees. It was not an aggressive turn, and I remember being amazed to hear the boards (or mounts, in this case) dragging at all right before I went down. Luckily, it looks like it was just the extension that bent, not the floorboard, so those POS things are coming off and probably not going back on...at least any more angled ones won't. Now I just need to get the lights working.

Glad to hear it was a minor 'scrape'. I've dumped every bike I've owned ... and some I've not.

Dumped the R* in the first month at a gas station. Almost dumped it last weekend moving it around in the garage. Luckily there was enough 'junk' around to stop it from hitting the ground.

Gotta get those first scratches on it so that you can really ride it.

I just laid my down a week ago this past Monday. Unfortunately for me I did some pretty good damage. Fender scratched, broke off a fog light, twisted the windshield and dented the silverado chrome trim and BROKE my engine guard. It saved me from getting to hurt and kept th engine in one piece so I wont complain that it broke.

That sucks RK. Yeah it happens to everyone sooner or later but so soon after doing all that work. That sucks! Glad you're OK.

Thanks, Musky. Luckily, not TOO much happened to the bike...a testament to their heartiness. Stood it up and drove it home, straight as an arrow. Funny thing is, I jump out from under the bike and what's the first thing I do? Check myself for injuries? Nope...hobbling around, checking out my laid down sweetheart to see how she fared. What a dork I am... Well, any crash you walk away from isn't that bad. Guess it just gives me a few more hours in Tinkerville!

Take care & ride safe, buddy...watch them winter potholes!

Damn, ASL...so sorry to hear that! As long as you're OK, though, it really is all that matters. Gotta stay healthy enough to fix up the horse that threw ya and get right back on!

If you need a temporary windshield, I have one I just took of my bike. It's the short model, and aside from a few cable rub spots it's in pretty fair condition. You're welcome to it if that'll help you get back on the road sooner!

Thanks, Ted! Today, I could have rightfully been called "the Gimp" (no one think back to Pulp Fiction...not THAT kind! ) Nothing a little bottle of Canadian Tylenol 3 can't ease, though, whilst I recuperate. A swollen ankle and a twisted knee do not keep me from holding a wrench...gotta get my baby back on the blacktop. Only this time, vertical...

Glad to hear you're OK, RK. When I went down, the biggest bruise was my ego. Everything on the bike is repairable or replaceable.

Just remember ... chicks dig scars.

Glad to here your good. Whats a couple more weeks of waiting after that long winter.
Came to a sliding halt in a gas station parking lot in texas two years ago on a road trip, really beat the bike up, fractured a couple ribs(landed on the right mirror), and still had to ride it home 1200 miles! That was on my shadow, I was bummed.
