Good luck Dryriver. Hell! wrecking your bike at 68 yrs. old is pretty impressive! Makes good conversation at the bar. Get well soon and remember, "Pain heals, Glory lasts forever, and chicks dig scars!!" See you down the road!

I also think you made a wise decision. If you still have the urge to ride you could always try a trike.

Good luck where ever life takes you next and thanks for participating on the Clinic.

Well give it some time, I am almost in the same boat with you although only 50....lol. When the wreck happened I told my wife to just burn the bike, now 6 months later I am seriously thinking of triking it with one of those insta-trike kits. I am back and forth on it, I have been riding so long I just can't seem to let it go. Maybe I should also, but I am going to wait till I am damn sure before I sell the chicken. I spent a month in ICU so I know that of which you speak.

Dryriver, just wanted to add my support for your decision. It's definitely a tough one to make. Your first wreck on gravel could happen to anyone, and your second wreck... Well, I've been there, done that. It's only by the grace of God that I didn't wreck, but there have been times I have misjudged a corner or ended up in a gradually tightening radius going too fast, and I was just lucky that I managed to recover things before they went pear-shaped.

Just some food for thought...

My best to you, whatever decision you make.

Hey dryriver, good luck old man,

Iam still holding up that roadie! but like you said, coordination and reflexes are essential on a motorbike... It ain,t like being in a CAGE, texting or using a cellphone...
After having both knees replaced and heading for 72 next april..a trike sounds good!! Iam ok solo, but wifey likes to ride shotgun once in awhile. then of cause I don,t get to show my scars?? to the young things!!

Once again, good luck... OBG

Wow, this got me thinking. All of us still up on two wheels, don't take it for granted...we'll all be there one day.

Good luck with the rehab, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You are a big man for realizing when its time to put the kickstand down before its to late. Hope I have the sence to do the same when I get to that point.

Good luck Dryriver. You don't have to ride to stop in here and say Hi once in a while. Keep in touch, heal quickly, and who knows, you may decide to keep on riding once in a while. My best to you.
