Tail Run/Turn Mod 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I just swapped out my tail turn signal lollypops with a set of front run/turn lollypops so I could have rear Run/Turn lights with a set of red lenses. What I discovered is that the bulb/sockets have a 3 pin base arrangement. I have never seen this before. Is there a red or clear bulb available to adapt to this socket. The local auto parts stores aren't any help as all auto bulbs have 2 pin bases. I am currently running the rears with the origonal amber bulb with clear lens and run wires not connected yet. I thought this would be an easy swap mod. Nuttin is ever easy

I'm running the front signals w/ red lenses in the back. They only had 2 pins. One for running lamps, one for directionals. What type of lollipops are you using?

These are from a roadstar 1700 not sure what year (front signals). I have 6 of these from different sellers on eBay and all are the same 3 pin arrangement. The pins I am talking about are around the base sides for locating and locking into the socket.

Older R* (99-03 I think) have 2 pin bulbs, newr R* 04 and uphave 3 pins. You can buy the auto 1157 bulbs with 2 pins and grind or file one pin off. I think is is the lowest pin and it will work in the R* 3 prong socket. I have the old style 2 pin in front with amber lens on the front and took my 3 prong and put them on the back and used the 1157 bulbs with red lens. The work really well.

Thanks, I was just thinking, Isn't the orange bulb just a coating that could be striped off? I'll have to go out to the garage and dig up one of the spares and see. Also going to stop by the Yami dealer and see if they carry a red or clear bulb that fits properly.
