What you have looks great! I have Chrome covers, don't waste your money, dealer or maybe you will over tighten them and they crack at the rear where the bolt goes in, then you fix it and it cracks again, cheap plastic. Not worth $100 so stick with what you have.

I bought my chrome side covers off eBay, used, and they are metal. I've heard a lot of the ones being sold are plastic, but I think I lucked out and got a set of OEM that someone had chromed...

I think it looks cool, balances out where your eyes wander. Like, if a good looking woman has a matching bikini top and bottom, you tend not to stare at whichever one has your favorite pattern or design (flowers, sea shells, etc). If they don't match and you really like the seashell design on her top, let's say, well, then, we all know how that gets us in trouble with our girlfriends and wives

Frank, I didn't know about the "floorboard down" tradition
I so prefer the look of my bike with the boards down
I guess I'll have to rethink this. Is this in the biker code?

It's sort of the boots in the saddle thing. I've left them down by accident a few times after unloading the backseat

I'm like most of these guys, I don't like chromed side covers. I don't see any reason to replace a factory high quality steel painted side cover with a cheap PLASTIC aftermarket chromed one.

I like the look of your new addition. As for me, I considered chrome side covers once and have decided to paint mine black... eventually.
