Wow now this is a first for me to read. Most guys love the yamaha due to how the floor boards are positioned. In my heart I believe that you just need to get use to the different riding position. I had the same thing happen to me. I have rode my R* for 8 years and I purchased a harley electra glide.I'm only 5'7" 29" inseam! It took some getting use to having my feet back more under my body rather then stretched out. If you ride this new bike long enough it should start to feel more comfortable as your brain will adjust to the change. I really don't think you could move the floor boards back 4-5". You might get away with 2" by making some special brackets but you will be forced to get a shorter shift linkage rod and that would have to be custom made along with your floor board brackets, but anything is possible!
