Not winding my neck at all, You install tires and you tell people to inflate them too low.

please tell me when i have advised ANYONE to run their tyres too low.

by the bike manufacturers specs, yes, but NEVER too low. that might be too low in your opinion, but hey, thatīs life.

and certainly i have never advised any one to run at the tyre manufacturers maximum cold test pressure, and none have noted handling problems, excessive wear, nor sidewall cracking as you have......

I feel this is a difference in the manner in which bikes are being used. Max weight per manuel is 390- 432 rider gear passenger. Dependent on bike year and what have you. In a case that you are over weight you need a tire to handle that weight. The tire pressures listed in the manual only apply to the tires they list. Don't apply to all tires that will fit. Metzler for example says to run bike recommended pressure. You say see I say read on and they then state that running higher pressure between 40 and 42 max at cold measure. This is 6 psi above and metzler is not the tires in the manual.

I have made calls in the past and the general consensus is to never go 6 psi lower that the posted max tire pressure. That would be dependent largely on weight carrying and not to exceed the tire weight capacity.

Maybe there is a labeling difference between countries but in the US max pressure is based on load carrying capacity .If you go to types of tire that for instance truck, suv, and van it would be weight and a max of 10 minutes for combined safety at max weight.unless a speed rating is indicated, can get confusing real fast. I'm human and could be wrong but that is what I have read time and time again from manufactures.

I ran metzler till recent and did a lot of reading and the failures they had come down to low pressures. Most likely guys and gals who didn't check pressures often.

With all this said it comes down to research your equipment. I feel both have valid points yet this isn't a one size fits all situation. Many compounds and technologies here plus variables as to weight ratio and such.

Yamaha would never say to run all tires out there, at their posted pressures. They would recommend as they have the tires listed in the manual. This, I know as fact, that is what they said run the tires recommended in the owners manual.

G'day erizo. I can't reply to that thread either, so it's the thread itself. You weren't blocked from it, my friend. That happens every now and again, so next time try the Quick Reply instead. That usually works.
