I know this may be a lame question, but can I damage anything by over cleaning and/or polishing of the chrome? I plan to clean/polish any chance I get and i have great products. I just want to make sure I don't cause any damage to my new baby...Thanks.  |

Be extra careful with the windshield. Some cleaning products will scratch or cloud the shield. I use Pledge to clean everything. I am sure that others will let you know their favorites.

I try to polish chrome as little as possible. It's shiny and doesn't need it, it just wants to be clean (I like the spray and rinse like S100 or Bike Bright). You'll find that after a while with polishing chrome, no matter how good a product you use, you'll be covered with small scratches. Aluminum however is another beast and I'm no good with it, lol. Alson, I agree with the cloudy windshield remark, be sure that whatever cleaner you use is safe for plastic/plexi, your speedo cover,windshield,headlight, etc all will fog if not cared for properly.

You could wax right through the clearcoat. 
But you need to wax alot.  |

I don't know if anybody else has used this stuff with good results, but I tried cleaning my wheels with Turtle Wax Foaming wheel cleaner ( labeled as safe for all wheels). Should have said in big letters...except motorcycle spoked wheels. This crap has totally screwed up most of the spokes, and left tiny spots around the rim. Yes...I did follow the directions to a T. Should have stayed with my soft bristle brush and soap. Lesson learned. Don't use this crap on your wheels. Go ahead and spend the extra time with a soft bristle brush and soap.
First (and last) time in 35 years I ever tried wheel cleaner. Bad mistake.

try black magic wheel cleaner. Im pretty strict about what i use on my car and bike. Have never had even 1 bad incident with Black magic and Mother's products, which is why they are the bulk of my cleaning army.

I'm careful about putting anything on my tire that would make them shiny and slick. I know a guy that put armour all on the sidewalls and got a little carried away and got some on the tread area just a little, When he tried to make the turn at the end of his driveway he went down like he was on ice.  |

I use plain jane Turtle Wax on my windshield. No abrasives, no polishing compound just the plain Turtle Wax. Wash it with soap and water, let dry, put a light coat of wax and let dry to a haze. Take off with a very soft cotton cloth. The windshield is crystal clear, no tarnish and I think the bugs come off easier next time.

Lots of good ideas here Tabatha. I use either Pledge on on the shield and tins, or Plexus. Depends on what I grab first. I'll also use Nevr-Dull on the chrome if I feel it needs some extra shine.
