If you look around the edge of the tread there are 6 marks at 60 degrees apart that show where the tread wear indicators are.Dunlop & bridgestone use a triangle, Avon uses a cobra snake head, Metzler uses the letters TWI. If you find the marks and look out in the middle you will see about a half inch high spot in a tread line. When that high spot is even with the surface of the tire it is worn out and needs replacement. As long as there is room between the tire surface and the indicators the tire is good to go.
