I put on hand deflectors to greatly cut down on the amount of wind that gets in between my fingers. When it gets below 30 F, I put on a set of Lectra gloves, drop a D-cell battery into each, and ride for up to three hours. Hand deflectors: $80. Gloves: $30. Return on investment: worth a million

Here is a Link for hand deflectors for the Yamaha. I think Frank W has them too and really likes them. They are around $80 but you could probably make your own without too much trouble.

Yea I went with the MS fairing partly for the look but mostly to get the wind off my hands in winter, It did do a little of that but lets a LOT of air by that the WS/HD lower set up didn't.
I should have got the hand deflectors. In a emergency I have cut some out of a Plastic notebook cover and slip them over the levers with a bow in the center to grap the lever and they do work! Also seen the mitt type but that looks a little dangerous.

Hand deflectors work great...other friends have them too...some of them ride their scoots to work in the winter.

When i was off road racing most of the guys i rode with made their own deflectors with heavy gauge plastic and a heating torch, some of them made them out of laundry soap bottles (they even had different colors, and they looked like they just bought them from a bike shop) so they could ride all winter long with warm hands. Plus it kept the rocks being thrown from the bikes in front of you off your hands. My KTM has them and i can tell you they really keep the cold air off your hands.

Thanks,

how they work.

I use to ride in the snow in Ogden Utah when I was stationed up at Hill AFB. I used a snowmobile suit and I never even knew it was cold out side no matter what the temp dropped to be. I also rode in Iowa when it was -10 F and had no problems. Just keep your face covered with a warm mask and a full face helmet.
